Pizza Pie in the Sky

The Harvest Moon this week, rising at dusk. My husband took this picture for me. The Harvest Moon gets its name because it shone bright at night so farmers could work late - back before lights were available.

  2. Lovely shot and something else I've learned today. I didn't know why it was called harvest moon. Just think of the song and that was it! Thanks.

  3. Ooh, thanks for the info about 'harvest moon.' Always wondered about that.

This is probably a stupid question, but I have to ask it. We have a full moon too, and Hangzhou, China just posted another full moon photo. The moon's phase is the same all over the world at any given time?

    Anyway, it's a beautiful photo!

  5. Hi Hilda - yep, we all get the same spectacular full moon at the same time, and it's been a beauty as you see in all the CDP blogs.

  7. It's especially good with all those muted desert colors. Is that sage in the foreground?

  8. Hi Knoxville gitl - yep, that's sagebrush. Boise IS sagebrush country, although we sometimes forget that because irrigation has greened the whole valley.
