Autumn in the City of Trees

I may have mentioned this one hundred times before, but autumn is my favorite season in the City of Trees.

Roadside Pumpkins

A young boy was selling these along McMillan Road. The board explains that the "white" on the pumpkins isn't mold, it's a mutation. Sold! I purchased two.

A late flight home last night, and we arrived at a "closed" airport. Security was even shut down.

Not So Regal Now, Eh?

No tail feather to show off this time of year. Come back in the spring.

Capitol Peek

See the Capitol dome in the foreground of a green hill? The house on top of that green hill is the governor's mansion. J.R. Simplot donated it to the state as a governor's residence, but our governor - the ex-son-in-law of J.R. Simplot - chose not to live there. I think it's rented out for events.

Quail

They were pecking at the crab apples. I didn't know they ate fruit.

Is it a Creek, or a Crick?

I grew up in a rural area of Idaho....so we would call this a "crick."

Monday at a Snail's Pace

Cat Tested

I didn't really plan on posting a photo of Jazzy Kitty today, but I'm unexpectedly away from my camera files because of a water issue at the house. Jazzy is testing some fabric I purchased to use in recovering a couple of dining room chairs. She likes it!

More Than Fantastic - it's Funtastic

Hmm. The sign design looks familiar. No, this isn't a casino. It's a small bar.

TP Tree

Around here, decorating yards with toilet paper in the middle of the night seems to be a rite of passage.

Milkweed

There are several different kinds around the valley, with some sold as landscaping plants. This one is more often found in natural areas.

Firefighter Pumpkin Patch

Chose our pumpkins at the field behind Fire Station #10 in Boise. The firefighters grow pumpkins in the lot each year. This year, they had a bumper crop of about 900 - in all sizes. They cut the pumpkins from the vines, stomp down the vines and cover the ground with straw.

The price for the pumpkins? Whatever you want to donate to the Fallen Firefighter Memorial Fund.

Equipment truck wearing Boise State University colors was on display.

And kids were invited to crawl around in a fire truck.

My small glimpse of the interesting sunset last night.

Idaho is More than Potatoes...

Onions are a big crop, too. Idaho and Eastern Oregon produce more storage-onions than any other region in the country.

I Have a Question...

Should I assume that most listings ARE short sales, unless otherwise noted?
