A series of sub-freezing temperatures this week will end the season of autumn colors quickly. The tree is a maple.

Women of Wool
The official name of the store is Twisted Ewe, on Chinden Blvd. The sign carries the Women of Wool slogan because for years, the sign said Woman of Steel. It was a metal arts gallery.

Pretty Little Free Library
Donate books. Take books. Prettiest Little Free Library I've seen in Boise. Find it in the North End, a couple of blocks south of Hyde Park.

Taco chilling at Edwards
This is Taco, a nine-year-old super tiny chihuahua. He was hanging out with his mom while she worked at Edwards Greenhouse and Nursery. He likes tummy rubs and posing for photos.

Old Boise Alley to be Remodeled
These will soon be categorized as "before" photos. This alley in Old Boise between Humpin' Hannah's, Brickyard and Bardenay is getting a makeover this summer.
The asphalt will be replaced with stamped concrete and the dumpters hidden from view
There are some interesting doors that line the alley. I hope they keep their character.

Sunset South of Boise
So far south of Boise, this might be in the town of Kuna. Clear, cold, brittle winter evening. Most Boise views focus north, on the mountains. Desert is to the south.

Japanese New Year Celebration in Boise
Japanese New Year was celebrated last weekend at the Dick Eardley Senior Center. Pounding the mochi is a traditional activity. Messy and really fun!
Happy New Year from Japanese school students.
This is kadomatsu, a traditional bamboo and pine arrangement that is supposed to attract good luck for the year.
The celebration included music, readings and a giant potluck. I have no idea what this soup was, except to say that it was delicious.

Boise Grows Up
Boise has a bodega across from City Hall now. Bodegas feel like a big city "thing." This is the first of two planned for downtown. There is also one on the Bench. While these don't look like the ones I've seen in New York City, they are a welcome addition. Now, they just need to get resident cats :)
