January Theme Day - Best Photo

The CDP Theme Day is "best" photo of 2008. I'm not a photographer, so I chose four of my favorites for 2008. And these first two weren't even taken by me, both were taken by my husband. The fall full moon against our desert landscape above.
This sunset picture was taken south of Boise.
This, I believe, was an early season sprinkler accident. It looks like there was an ice storm, but it was just a hard frost overnight with a sprinkler running.
And this is the classic "Mentos in a soda bottle" experiment at our local library this summer. These kids had never seen the experiment before, and I love the poor girl on the right whose job it was to "measure" the height of the explosion with that yardstick she's holding.

  5. Your choices cover all the bases from sheer beauty, lovely colors and wonderful composition, to amazing formations and delightful, humorous action. Looking at the thumbnail of the first shot I just said "WOW!"
I can see why Ben wishes HE took the second shot. If I could walk into just one of the scenes it would be the sprinkler ice. . .its just so weird and wonderful to see!
Wishing you blessings and more great shots in 2009!

  14. Happy New Year!

    Merry New Year?

It's hard to pick just one. Maybe you could have four categories with a winner in each one?

That would be my cop out answer!

  17. I love all your choices! That big, fat moon is awesome and the sprinkler accident is funny — though I feel sorry for the plants. I haven't heard of the "Mentos in a soda bottle" thing! How does one do it? It's giving me ideas.

Happy theme day! Glad you had an enjoyable new year dinner. Happy New Year again!
