This elementary school opened in 1949, and replaced another school of the same name that suffered a fire in its history and was later condemned. It's located not far from the West End and is near the Boise River. Originally, Whittier was intended to serve students in the Garden City area.
I did not know that history of the school. I figured it to be a baby boomer school like so many of the schools built in the 50's.
