Whoa. Noticed that the big tree behind this faded motel sign on Fairview Avenue was chopped down. See below a photo from 2008. There was a bit more red on the sign 5 years ago.
It really stands out, too, now that the tree is gone. Here's a link to the pic of the Boulevard Mo-Tel http://www.boisedailyphoto.com/2009/07/mo-tel.html
Thank you for sharing that link. I never put 2 and 2 together about the no vacancy sign. I am always amazed at what we do not notice, today when I was on Fairview I noticed yet another ghetto fabulous motel. Have you ever noticed the Holiday motel about 3 dors east of here?
The Holiday used to have a nice swimming pool out front, and was considered a fun family hotel 40 years ago or so? I remember a giant photo-realistic painting at the Boise Art Museum in the late 80s that showed it in all its glory. I've posted about the hotel here twice: http://www.boisedailyphoto.com/2012/02/holiday-hotel.html http://www.boisedailyphoto.com/2009/02/not-holiday-inn.html
I love that sign, I see it everytime I go to the Grocery Outlet. The other one I like just about as much is the motel on Capitol across from BSU
