Cheers in the Cemetery

For the last couple of days, while driving past the Joplin Cemetery, I had noticed a beer bottle next to a grave. I figured "kids," and when traffic was backed up, I turned into the cemetery, aiming to pick up the trash. It turned out to be a full bottle of Wing Walker Lager left there in honor of someone. How fitting for a gravestone with flying themes such as "May the Force be With You." I left the bottle there...

  1. It is not easy to find something which is so sad and funny at the same time.

  2. Looks like they enjoyed their time when they were here.

  3. There is a family grave at a local cemetery that I like to visit on a hot summer day. It sits back from the road under a big shade tree and incorporates a large , cool stone bench. A grand place to - ahem - lubricate the creative synapse and enjoy Walter Issacson' latest biography, and observe contemporary death rituals.

I always bring a whisk broom and leave it better than I found it.

  4. It must be cemetery day. Lois and I both have cemetery photos today, too! I've seen someone leave a full bottle of liquor at a grave before. Very strange and probably cheaper than fresh cut flowers!
