Ultimate Electronics Artifact

This sphere was the icon of "Ultimate Electronics" - a computer-TV-DVD-type store along Milwaukee Road that went defunct a couple of years ago. The sphere used to be silver. Then in a face lift of the strip mall, it was painted red. Now, the strip mall is getting another remodel and the sphere has been abandoned in the parking lot. It takes up three spaces. I'm sure more than one person has thought it might look good in their back yard.

  1. It would be neat if painted like the world. I'd take it.

  3. Do you want it too? :D

If I had it in my yard, I'd paint it yellow and put a smiley face on it.

  4. A perfect example of a question I wrestle with often. What makes this different from so much of the art we see in our cities and galleries.

If you had told me it was public art I wouldn't have thought twice.

    Thanks Diva

  5. I think Jim has a good idea. Hopefully it doesn't end up in a landfill.
