A River On a Building

This is a river sculpture on the side of the Grove Hotel. It's supposed to be the Boise River. Sometimes, water really flows down the sculpture, although if you look closely, you can see that it damaged the surrounding stone because our water here is very hard. And in the winter, there was an ice problem on the sidewalk below. At night, there is neon back-lighting. I like this sculpture. I wish they would clean up the water damage and find a way to keep it flowing all the time.

  1. Thats different. Looks like the building has a crack. It would be neat to see with water running down it.

  2. I think it's a great sculpture!

But looking at the thumbnail, I first thought it was a crack painted funkily. Looks amazingly like lightning too, actually.

  3. Well, both Jim and Hilda hit on the biggest criticism of the sculpture - that it looks like there's a crack, or damage, to the building!

  4. Though, from the beginning I realized that it's a piece of art! I like it! Very original.

  5. It's definitely different. It looks like a fissure, but I would like to see iit lit up. Nver seen anything like this on a building before. Nice spot.

  7. I love the river, when it's flowing & the lights are on. It's beautiful.

I do agree, they need to remove the discoloration, seal it, & turn it on more often. It's pretty rare to see it in action.
