A relic of a rusted out sign hanging on a building in downtown Boise. I don't know anything about the hotel's history, the building is no longer a hotel. It's surprising this old sign is still there. There's an art gallery underneath. I think the lower level was a club/bar at some point, and I have no idea what is on the upper floors.
lovely blog. we're from boise too and it's great to see these sights through your lens.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother Sparks used to own the hotel in the late 70s. I remember visiting a few times. The hotel was in bad shape even back then. The residents were rather down on their luck..
ReplyDeleteI don't know the history before or after....however, From about 1972 - 1980, Purcell' s Western Wear was downstairs and the Olympic Hotel (owned by Purcell) had live-in managers. There were ten rooms, rented on a month-to-month basis, at the top of the staircase.
