This is what the Treasure Valley was doing all weekend. The City of Boise will pick the leaves up for the city compost project. At my house, we mow all the leaves into the lawn. Just run them over with the mower a few times and they'll be "disappeared" by spring. We also dump some into the compost bins.
I like your way of disposal, I do the same. So many people on my block put them in plastic bags for trash. I guess out of site, out of mind. They just go into a bottomless black hole.
