Sagebrush Spring

Scrubby and hardy, sagebrush is an icon of the landscape. It stays silvery-green year-round. Critters eat it, especially in the winter. When it rains, the shrubs become fragrant. I think they smell like mint, but many others describe the odor as a cross between camphor and oil - and obviously, they don't like it. While many plants bloom in the spring, the sagebrush flowers in late summer and early fall.
