Easter Egg Experiments

The results of our experiments with Easter egg dyes yesterday. We attempted to "make" dyes with things around the house. We used dandelions (see below), beets, frozen blueberries, onion skins, maraschino cherries and regular food coloring - all mixed with water and vinegar.
The dandelions, beets and maraschino cherries generated the best colors. But good old food coloring was the brightest.

  2. That brings back a lot of memories from when my sister and I would go over to our grandmother's house and color eggs. I can still smell the vinegar.
