Curiosity in Julia Davis Park

It looks like this may have been a fountain, possibly a drinking fountain? It's now a crumbling thing overgrown with bushes in Julia Davis Park, downtown Boise. The plaque says it's dedicated to the first whites to visit the Boise Valley in 1811 - the "Wilson Price Hunt expedition" - dedicated by "sons and daughters of Idaho pioneers" in 1931.

  1. I saw many types of these fountains, but all of them in European cities. It is so strange to see a 'wild' version in a park in Idaho. A pity it's crumbling, I think is nice and a bit of repair could not be too expensive.

  2. Its a shame it has been allowed to deteriorate.

    1. I wish I knew at what point it disappeared. I know it's not there today.

    2. The day I took that photo, I cleared away some of the brush obscuring it.
