Chain Letters - Sign of the Times in a Bad Economy

This is the third one I've seen in the past couple of weeks - a chain letter. It's funny how this is supposed to be "legit" because Oprah's name is on it. It also states that it is not a chain letter...then it says to send $1 to the people listed, and then add your name and send the letter to your friends so you can get money and the lifestyle you "deserve." Exactly the definition of a chain letter? Do you ever participate in chain letters? This one is joining the others in the recycle bin.

  1. Neither chain letters nor chain e-mail survive for long in my world...though surely I must have fallen for it once as a child and been sadly disappointed. Why else would I be so put off by them now. And you?

  2. OH bad news. I get them in my email at work. People I work with are so gullable. They get them for free stuff from places like Applebees and elctronic stores. They usually say if they just forward the email to 10 people, they will get a second email with the coupon for the free stuff. People at my work will do it then wonder why they didnt get the coupon.

  3. No, I don't participate. Don't even listen to salesman that knock on my door much. Did buy three boxes of Girl Scout cookies and had them delivered to the service men overseas with "Operation Thin Mint".

  4. A sign of the times. Some people will grasp at anything if the times get desperate enough. And so the greaseballs come out of the woodwork. I get the rare spam but nothing by mail.

  6. oh never, and I hate those email chains too, especially the ones that threaten something bad will happen if you don't forward it.
I guess it's "deperate times, desperate measures"

  7. I've seen things like this by e-mail, but not real mail in a long, long time. That's crazy!

  8. I used to love these as a young teenager. Now they go through the shredder or into the fire! :)
