Frozen Ducks

They've got a little thawed spot in this pond for paddling around. This is a year-round fountain feature at the entrance to a subdivision. I've featured it before in warmer weather, overflowing with bubbles after pranksters put a Mr. Bubble-type product in it.

  1. I remember that! Hee hee. Glad the ducks still have a little water left to swim around in.

Finally got around to visiting after all the Christmas family reunions :) I hope you had a wonderful day with your family, BD!

  2. Your photo reminded me of a time in Maryland when we lived at the edge of a good sized pond. One winter it froze and the Canada geese who wintered there swam in a smaller and smaller circle in the center of it. Finally one goose had waited so long to get out of the water he was in a very small hole in the ice. It took him the longest time to maneuver out. We watched for hours while his struggle went on, knowing the ice was too thin to go out to help. He finally got a footing somehow and got himself out. Whew! One of nature's struggles I guess. We were glad to see him make it. The other geese stayed around close to him watching (and I think cheering him on).
