Public Art - Modern Stocks?

Art in downtown Boise. I can't explain it. We've joked that it's a modern version of public stocks for punishment. Have a go at interpretation!

  1. HAHA, I was thinking the other stocks, like stocks and bonds.

If it had a giant blade it could also be a guillotine.

  2. Even if I have no idea about this work of art, would you agree to be one of my "followers"?

  3. Jim and I had the same thought! Can be the world economy, actually, sliced and hole-y.

Then I thought: you sure there's no blade hanging up there somewhere? You can stick your head in the hole and find out. :D

  4. I bet lots folks put their heads there to have a picture taken.

It's called Portal but that doesn't make it any clearer to me at all.

In the final analysis, I'm very impressed by the craftsmanship that went into creating this. It's a masterpiece of engineering.

  6. It's obviously the new version of the stargate.

  7. Some workers have left a pile of rubbish behind, couldn't be bothered chucking it, so they called it 'public art'.

    Too cruel?

  8. My sister took an art class at BSU and spent a lot of time downtown looking at the multiple pieces of art there. She can tell us quite a bit about a lot of them. I'll have to ask her about this one. Where is it?

  9. Hi Becky, this art is right in front of P.F. Chang's. Wayne says the name of it is "Portal."
