Balloon Car Buying

The typical car-buying lure in our area - lots of balloons. Balloons are supposed to make you think you need a new car? Balloons are full of hot air and so are....? A helium dealer is related to all the car dealers? I know that last time I bought a car, it wasn't because it had a balloon attached to it. I wanted to get a picture of the Boise Front with that row of trees in front...but our skies have been too smoky and hazy to even see much of the mountains.

  1. I never understood the significance of balloons at used car lots either.

  2. Maybe there is a market for economical used cars. All the balloons in the world won't help sell most new cars these days.

I don't associate balloons with car dealers. To me it was those banners with the multi-coloured triangles that were strung from lamp posts and whatnot all over the lots.

  4. Why yes, just seeing those balloons makes me want to go in debt to buy a car that costs 100 bucks to fill up!
Bless their hearts, car lots are FULL of unsold cars down here too.

  5. Maybe their strategy is to attract kids' attention so that they start crying until Mom & Dad pull into the dealer parking lot to look at the "balloons." Kind of like why they put the candy up by the cash registers, along with the little junk toys?

  6. When my son was a toddler he used to say "Car Party, Car Party" when we would pass by the dealerships using the balloons. We would laugh, of course!

  11. I've never understood the balloons either, other than they must want to catch our eyes, and I guess it works!

  12. We have had an explosion of balloons at the little dealerships here. But sadly, I don't think those balloons will help much.
