A Spider Web for Humans

This spider web bench is in front of a tattoo business. It's not a Halloween decoration, just their regular theme.

  3. It looks as though there is a talented metal worker around Boise.

  4. It doesn't look the most comfortable bench. I guess it keeps the hobos away.

Does America still have "hobos"? Or are they "bums" now? When did hobos become bums? Or are the bums now "homeless people"? Why are they called bums? Bums are very different things in Australia.

So many questions, so little time...

  5. Pretty! I love spider webs — even at home, as long as they catch bugs!

  6. How funny! For Halloween they should string some orange lights around it or something.

  7. Hi Kris - it took me some time to research the bum/hobo/homeless connections in Boise. Generally, we call people hauling sleeping bags and garbage bags around "homeless." Hobos don't like to be confused with bums or homeless people. They are proud of their boxcar train hopping talents and ability to travel...at least as far as I can tell! On the other hand, there's a whole industry of folks who write on piece of cardboard that they "need money" and they stand with the signs at the entrances/exits of shopping centers. I think of that is parking lot spam.
